Margaret Harty and Liam Dwan win Joe Doran Cup.

Margaret Harty and Liam Dwan emerged as worthy winners of the 2008 Joe Doran Cup competition at Nenagh LTC on Friday night 18th April.

Runners-up were Mary Minogue and Joe Murphy.

It was a much appreciated win for the pairing, as evidenced by Margaret in an acceptance speech in which she recalled personally knowing the late Joe Doran and how she was thrilled to be accepting a cup in his honour.

Hard luck indeed to Joe Murphy and Mary Minogue who gave a magnificent performance, but were just pipped at the end. The final, went to 8 all and needed a tie-break to decide it.

For Mary, it was a second runner-up position in the final of the event, but undoubtedly we’ll see both her and Joe to the forefront again in future events.

The competition which attracted a large entry was run over 2 nights.
